The cabin is constructed of 6' x 12' pine logs and contains approximately 1400 square feet on 1.5 floors. It will comfortably sleep 6 persons, with a downstairs bedroom with queen bed and a full (shower) bath, an upstairs bedroom with twin beds and a full (tub/shower) bath, and a large upstairs loft with a daybed and trundle (the same size as two twin beds). All linens furnished.
The kitchen is fully equipped with electric appliances (icemaker in refrigerator) and all utensils, as well as gas grill on the back porch.
Washer and dryer is furnished.
No smoking is allowed in the cabin.
No pets are allowed in the cabin.
Check-in time is 3 pm. Check-out time is 10 am or earlier.
Our cabin is conveniently located near interesting areas, but it is also very secluded in a wooded community. A paved and well-maintained road leads up to our driveway. In the event of inclement winter weather, four-wheel drive vehicles will be needed to navigate the climb from Highway 105 to the cabin. Other houses are located sparsely within the community, but none can be seen from ours. It is a very tranquil and relaxing place, especially in the rockers on the back porch with a view of the surrounding mountains, or in the front porch swing with a good book. A satellite TV, DVD, and VCR are included also for your convenience.

Reservation Procedure
After confirming your desired dates via telephone or e-mail, please print, complete, and return the enclosed reservation request along with a check for $160.00 made payable to Steve or Judy McDowell. This covers the security deposit of $100.00, plus a $60.00 cleaning fee. We will hold your requested dates by phone confirmation for 7 days pending arrival of the deposit.
Upon receipt of your reservation request and check, we will send you a confirmation of the reservation. The deadline to receive the balance of the rental amount is 14 days prior to your reservation. We will also send maps of the area coming into Boone/Blowing Rock, and to our cabin specifically. Brochures with more specific information concerning area attractions will be available in the cabin upon your arrival.
The daily rental rate is $150.00 plus 6% occupancy tax, 7% sales tax, and the $60 cleaning fee. There is a two night minimum stay. The weekly rental is $900.00 plus 6% occupancy tax, 7% sales tax, and the $60.00 cleaning fee.
A weekly rental may be required during holiday periods.
Cancellation / Refund Policy
If cancellation of your reservation becomes necessary, all money will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 30 days in advance of the reservation. If the cancellation is made between 14 and 30 days prior to the reservation, the $100.00 deposit is forfeited. If the cancellation is made between 7 and 14 days before your reservation, one-half (1/2) of the total amount due plus the security deposit is forfeited. If the cancellation is less than 7 days prior to the reservation, the entire amount (less the cleaning fee) is forfeited.
After your visit, the $100.00 security deposit will be returned to you following a satisfactory inspection of the cabin. In the unlikely event that the cabin is left in an extreme state of disorder and/or damage, the amount required to cover these costs will be deducted from this deposit.
Area Attractions and Activities
Hemlock Ridge is situated in the heart of the North Carolina High Country, centrally located to Boone, Blowing Rock, Linville, Banner Elk, and Grandfather Mountain. The area boasts the Southeast's best skiing, including Sugar Mountain, Ski Beech, and Ski Hawksnest, all within a few miles of our cabin. Hiking on Grandfather Mountain, in Linville Gorge, and on the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway will appeal to the nature lover, as will fishing in the area's rivers and lakes. Several excellent golf courses, including Elk River, Grandfather, and Roan Valley are close by, and horseback riding can be accommodated at the Blowing Rock Stables. Shopping abounds, with the historic Mast General Store, Shoppes on the Parkway in Blowing Rock, and numerous antique malls. More specific information on local attractions will be waiting for you at Hemlock Ridge upon your arrival.
