The Tufts House Inn will capture your heart, soul, and imagination at first sight, much as it did audiences of a North Carolina Public Television segment broadcast earlier this year which featured unique and historic bed and breakfast homes of the Tarheel State. |
A tranquil old country estate nestled on a 40-acre mountainside in the Southern Highlands, this stone and wood home overlooks the Elk River Valley, and affords views of both Beech and Sugar Mountains. The quaint town of Banner Elk and Lees McRae College are only minutes away. |
Your Stay at the Tufts House The friendly, relaxed atmosphere, cozy rooms, and warm breakfast make The Tufts House Inn a special way to begin and end your days. Each room is decorated uniquely with a charm and character of its own. The blend of original furnishings, antique pieces, and modern bedding creates a home-like feeling. Robes and slippers, as well as fresh fruit and flowers will always await you. Our guests will enjoy the special intimacy and personal attention that we feel are essential to traditional Innkeeping. |
Leisure activities in the Highlands are almost endless, and most certainly year-round. In the center of everything, yet serenely private, The Tufts House Inn is an idyllic spot from which to venture forth ... or a most appealing haven in which to retreat. We'd be happy to assist you in your favorite pasttime, or point you in the direction of something new. |
As the morning sun rises above the mountains, light fills the valley and its warmth begins to slowly fill your room. The fresh aroma of coffee and cinnamon rolls hint at the bountiful gourmet breakfast beginning at the civilized hour of nine a.m. Breakfast is served according to the seasons and weather, in either the dining room, terrace, or in front of a warm fire. You might prefer a picnic basket and return to your room for a leisurely morning. |
We want you to enter a time that allows real warmth and conversation in a charming and peaceful setting. To extend the feeling of tranquility, you will not find a television or telephone in your room. |
